MORTON manager Jim Duffy says he won’t look to rotate his squad against Brechin today.

The Ton host the side sitting bottom of the Championship, and will be relegated if they fail to pick up a victory at Cappielow.

With seven games to go, Duffy says there’s no chance he’ll be making wholesale changes.

He told the Tele: “We don’t rest players for any team at any time of the season. We look at each team and pick the team accordingly.

“But we don’t rest players because we think this game will be any less of a challenge than any other game.

“We don’t make wholesale changes, we’ve got a few players that have come back and it’s certainly a bit stronger than it was two or three weeks ago.

“We’ve brought in Gary Fraser and John Baird, we’ve got Luca Gasparotto and Jack Iredale back fit again and these guys were missing or not here.

“We’re a bit healthier in terms of numbers, but that means there’s just more competition for places, and it’s my job to get the right guys on the pitch.”

One extra bonus for the Greenock side is the availability of Aberdeen loanee Frank Ross.

The youngster wasn’t picked for the Scotland under-19s squad for their ties against Germany, Netherlands and Norway this week, having been involved in previous squads. But Scotland’s loss is Morton’s gain.

Duffy added: “If somebody gets picked for the under-19s or any level at internationals then I think it’s fantastic for the players, if you’re not involved then everyone’s got an opinion.

“I’ve not had any discussions regarding Frank so if he is selected to play international football then great.

“From our point of view we’re delighted he’s not been selected, it gives us more choices to make looking at the squad.

“We’ve got Scott Tiffoney who has been terrific for a good part of this season and these are young boys who have the potential to be in these groups, but there is a lot of good young talent out there.

“If we have them available for us we’re happy, if they get selected for the national squads we’re equally happy.”

Duffy went to Glebe Park on Tuesday night to watch Saturday’s opponents take on Dunfermline Athletic, the Pars running away 3-0 victors on the night.

He said: “Brechin lost two goals in a minute and that really knocked the stuffing out of them.

“They worked hard, they didn’t throw the towel in and that’s been the case this season every time I’ve seen them. They’ve always fought for each other and they continue to do that.

“They changed it after about half an hour and settled into the game but by that time Dunfermline had got a grip on the game and so they won it comfortably.

“But you would expect a team of Dunfermline’s calibre to do that.

“It won’t be any gauge of what will happen on Saturday, because every game is different. The only thing it tells you is that their mentality is still good and their performance levels.”
