IT WAS a day to forget for Morton after they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to rivals St Mirren at the Paisley 2021 Stadium on Saturday.
Ton’s play-off hopes ended, the Renfrewshire derby spoils went to the Paisley side and the Buddies were presented the league trophy - it was an occasion Morton supporters will want to clear from their memories quickly.
Saints opened the scoring via Danny Mullen on 10 minutes, before Michael Doyle equalised with a header after half an hour.
The visitors played well for large spells of the game, but were caught napping on a Saints counter-attack with 17 minutes to go, and Greenock-born Lewis Morgan sealed the victory for the hosts to further rub salt into the wounds for the Ton.
