MORTON will make a short trip across the River Clyde to face Dumbarton in the first round of the Irn Bru Cup.
The regionalised draw for the opening stage of the competition was made this afternoon.
It saw Ray McKinnon's men land a tie against the Sons, who are managed by ex-Ton midfielder Stevie Aitken.
They were relegated from the Championship last term but made it all the way to the final of the Irn Bru Cup, losing to Inverness.
Ton's two visits to Dumbarton last season saw them draw 0-0 and win 1-0.
The Greenock men will face a couple of familar faces in the clash, after Sons snapped up Cappielow old boys Ross Forbes and Bobby Barr during the summer.
The tie will be played on either August 14 or 15.
