RAY McKinnon says Scott Tiffoney is working his way back to full fitness — but the Morton boss believes the winger has some way to go before he will be in regular contention for selection.

The 19-year-old sealed a permanent move to Livingston last week on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee before returning straight back to the Ton on loan until January.

The academy product, who has been with the club since he was 14, played an hour for Morton in their Irn-Bru Cup tie against Dumbarton on Tuesday.

But without having a full pre-season under his belt, McKinnon believes it will take the winger some time before he’s fully up to speed.

Despite him being at Cappielow until January, the manager insists he will treat him equally with the rest of the team, and he feels will be a useful addition to the side.

McKinnon told the Tele: “As a club we made an agreement to bring him back on loan and we’ll treat him like any other player.

“That was done as a club decision, myself included, and we welcome him back. We’re going to work to get him back fit again.

“He’s a wee bit off in that respect, you could see that the other night, so he’s going to have to work hard over the next couple of weeks to get his fitness up to the levels that he needs to be to be in our team and playing regularly.

“He’s got work to do as he hasn’t done much over the last six or seven weeks.”
