JACK Iredale says childhood friend and latest Morton trialist Joe Knowles could add versatility to their front line if he was to sign on at Cappielow.

Knowles, who was born in London but moved to Perth, Australia, has been training with the club this week.

Iredale grew up alongside Knowles, having played in the same youth teams and alongside the forward at Perth Glory.

Their paths separated when Iredale tried his luck at making a career for himself in Europe, but now they could be reunited again.

The striker opted to leave Glory last month, after making 15 appearances for the Australian outfit. Knowles was the captain of their youth team last year.

The 22-year-old made his debut at 19 against Melbourne City, and netted his first competitive goal against Newcastle Jets in the A-League in December.

Iredale says Knowles has a lot of strings to his bow that could help the Ton.

He told the Tele: “I grew up playing football with Joey. We went to high school together, and I’ve been good friends with him for near-enough 10 years now.

“He’s an attack-minded player and can play anywhere across the front four.

“He’s a good runner with the ball, a good shooter and aggressive trying to win the ball back, so he’s a very solid player.”
