MORTON’S Charlie Telfer admits he can’t wait to return to Tannadice this weekend to take on Dundee United.

The midfielder joined the Tangerines from Rangers in 2014 after rejecting a contract offer from the Glasgow club.

The 23-year-old went on to play over 50 times for United, making his breakthrough at the club in his last season when Dundee United were in the Championship, with 38 appearances in 2016-17.

The attacker then went on to play abroad in the Netherlands with Almere City for a year.

His time there was hampered by injury, limiting him to 10 first team appearances.

Telfer has played five times this season so far but has had injury problems, having injections on his ankle to help with the pain.

If he does make an appearance on Saturday, it will be the first time since his return to Scotland that he will have returned to Tannadice.

While he’s looking forward to it, he hopes the Ton can bounce back and claim all three points this Saturday.

He told the Tele: “The week’s break from a game has been good as it’s given us time to regroup and focus on Dundee United this weekend. I’m looking forward to going back, and despite the result last Saturday we’re looking really good and we’ve shown that with the results we’ve had.

“There are a few of my old team-mates still there, Jamie Robson and William Edjenguele and a couple of the younger guys are up there. It will be nice to see them and all the backroom staff that are still there too, but hopefully we get a good result.”
