LEE Kilday says he’s enjoying life on and off the pitch after the recent arrival of his baby and getting back to his best for Morton.

The centre-back’s daughter Quinn was born last Friday and he’s had her back home with his partner Chloe this week.

Coupled with the fact he is now back in the side and a regular in the team after being out for over a year with an ankle injury, it’s been an enjoyable period for the 26-year-old.

He told the Tele: “I’m over the moon and I’m just delighted she’s here and she’s healthy. We’ve got her home in the house now — it’s great.

“It’s early days but the sleep’s been good so far and long may that continue.

“Personally it’s great to be back playing week in, week out.
“I was out for around a year and it was difficult, but to be back playing is really positive for me and I feel as if the team are doing well.”

The former Hamilton Accies player hopes his side put in an improved performance today against Ayr United.

Morton limped to a 1-1 draw against Dunfermline last week, with Scott Tiffoney scoring late on to earn Jonatan Johansson’s men a point.

Kilday believes his side can put the disappointing performance behind them this afternoon.

He added: “Last Saturday we weren’t good enough but we still got the point, it was a positive result in that respect.

“But Ayr are flying now, they’re top of the league and will come into the game with a positive mindset.

“We’re at home and we need to go out there with a high tempo and get in their faces and try and get the three points.

“Their midweek game against Rangers might take it a bit out of their legs, but they’ve had a few days to recover.”

Having been at the club since 2014, Kilday admits he’s not seen such a hectic period with managers coming and going in all his time at Morton.

But with new manager Johansson in charge, he says his side are starting to adjust to the latest new arrival.

Kilday said: “I’m not used to all the changes that have been happening over my time here. I had Jim Duffy for four years and when that happened with Ray McKinnon you’ve never seen that happen before, but the new gaffer has come in now and he’s doing well.

“He’s getting to know the players as well as we’re getting to know him, so hopefully it continues.

“As players we need to know what to do, the gaffer has his way of playing and we need to learn that and get that across onto the pitch.

“He’s a great guy who puts his points across well and you know what you need to do from him.

“I’m sure as he gets more weeks under his belt he’ll improve and keep improving and hopefully we can get a positive result on Saturday for him.”
