MORTON manager Jonatan Johansson praised the performance of ‘top class’ goalkeeper Ryan Scully.

The shotstopper pulled off a string of saves on Saturday against Inverness Caley Thistle to help earn his side a 1-1 draw.

His most impressive stops came in the closing stages of the game, as the hosts piled on the pressure at the Caledonian Stadium.

Scully’s performances in the Championship have drawn praise from numerous opposition managers, including Inverness boss John Robertson.

The former Partick Thistle goalkeeper has started all but one game so far this season, keeping former Ton number one Derek Gaston on the bench after a number of frustrating years as second choice for the Jags.

While Johansson was critical of a communication breakdown between the backline for the goal Morton conceded right before half-time on Saturday, the Ton boss hailed the influence of Scully’s display between the sticks.

He told the Tele: “He made some great saves, he was disappointed with the goal.

“I didn’t see it too well but I thought it was poor communication between the three of them at the back.

“He went out and showed in the second half that he is a top class keeper, he made some fantastic saves.”
