MORTON suffered a heavy defeat in the Highlands as they were thrashed 5-0 by league leaders Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium on Saturday.
County’s Billy McKay scored a hat-trick, grabbing his first goal nine minutes in.
The Northern Irish international forward added his second and third goals either side of half-time, capitalising on defensive lapses both times.
The former Wigan Athletic striker turned provider on 57 minutes, passing to Davis Keillor-Dunn who skipped past the Ton defence to make it 4-0.
Former Ton striker Brian Graham piled more misery on the away side, slotting home a penalty in injury-time to make it five.
