JONATAN Johansson says Reece Lyon could miss out against Partick Thistle with the Morton youngster nursing a knock.

Lyon hopes he can establish himself as a Morton first team regular after starring against Queen of the South in midweek.

The midfielder capped off a man of the match display at Dumfries on Tuesday with a late winner, firing in a stunning volley with six minutes to go to seal a 2-1 win.

It was the 18-year-old’s first competitive start for Johansson’s side, after making two substitute appearances this season.

But Johansson revealed he might not feature against the Jags.

He told the Tele: “Reece, who grabbed the headlines, is a doubt for Saturday.

“It’s more fatigue and not being used to the new environment, it’s a much tougher game and there’s a little bit of swelling.

“It’s important not to do too much too soon with younger players.

“We’ll assess him and we’ll know more today and tomorrow.”

With experienced midfielder Chris Millar missing the last game through injury, Lyon is eager to stay in the starting line-up tomorrow after an impressive display in midweek.

He told the Tele: “Hopefully I can keep my spot in the team for now, I know Midge is still out injured and hopefully I can keep on going.”
