JONATAN Johansson says playing Ross County tonight live on TV is the ideal way to start 2019.

The Ton host the league leaders tonight at Cappielow, kicking off the Scottish football fixtures for the year.

The game will be shown live on BBC Alba, with Morton able to move up to fourth place with a win.

But it will be tough against the Dingwall side, who inflicted Morton’s heaviest defeat so far this season, a 5-0 loss back in October.

Morton have since seen their form go up and down, ending a winless run last week in the league against Partick Thistle.

After picking up that morale-boosting victory against the Jags, Johansson says tonight is a great chance for everyone at the club to go out and impress in front of the cameras.

He told the Tele: “Last week’s game for our club was psychologically important for us.

“I felt some of our performances were good. With a little bit of killer instinct in the final third we could have easily picked up more points, as we’ve been quite solid defensively.

“To start the year on telly on a Friday night, under the lights against the league leaders against a team we lost badly against away from home, I think the challenge is for the players to prove they’ve progressed since then.

“It’s a fantastic chance and for me it’s a great chance to start the year.”
