MORTON’S Jim McAlister says no fingers should be pointed around the team after mistakes led to their defeat to Alloa Athletic.

The Wasps came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to a penalty from Alan Trouten and a Kerr Waddell own goal.

Mistakes were made by the Ton for both goals on Saturday, with the second going viral on social media.

But the Morton captain says all players are capable of a mistake, and they need to get it out of their system this week when they take on East Fife in the Scottish Cup.

He told the Tele: “After a defeat you always just want to get straight back onto the training ground. It was good to get going again after Saturday.

“We had two good results and for large parts of the game it probably wasn’t pretty on the eye but we were reasonably comfortable in the game.

“In the last handful of games something we haven’t been guilty of doing is giving away soft goals but the two goals we conceded were embarrassing unfortunately.

“That’s modern day football, mistakes can go on social media and you need to deal with the social media side of things.

“It’s a close knit group and nobody will be singled out by us, that’s for sure.

“Everyone has their fair share of mistakes over the course of the season.

“We just have to put an arm around people if they need it and hope this weekend we can put ourselves into the next round of the cup.”
