KEELAN O’Connell is hoping to bring attacking flair and ‘excitement’ to the Morton fans after sealing his move to the Cappielow side.

The winger, who can play on both flanks as well as in an attacking midfield role, has secured a loan move to the Greenock outfit until the end of the season from English Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 19-year-old was keen to move out on loan after finding his opportunities with the Cherries’ first team squad limited this season.

O’Connell hopes his move to Morton can help move his career on, as he targets competitive games with Jonatan Johansson’s side.

He told the Tele: “I’m hoping to bring some excitement. I try to bring others into the game and I like to be positive.

“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s different from playing under-21s which I’m used to, I’m just looking forward to competing for points.

“This month I needed to get out and get some experience. Getting some first team football week in, week out is my aim.”

The teenager hopes he can impress and make an instant impression with the Scottish Championship side.

He added: “The lads and the staff have been great with me and have helped me settle in.

“I want to get into the team, secure a spot in the starting 11 and then push for the play-offs, we’re not too far away at the moment.”
