MORTON defender Gregor Buchanan says he’s not given much thought to where his future will lie next season.

The centre-back has been a regular in the Ton side this season, playing 29 times for the Greenock outfit.

Buchanan was keen to get more first team action this season, after finding himself in and out of the team at both St Mirren and Livingston last term.

He has already made more appearances this season than he did in the last campaign, with several months still to go.

But the former Dumbarton and Dunfermline player, who recently became a father for the first time, says he is keen to focus on impressing manager Jonatan Johansson enough to earn a new deal, and would then give it more thought in the summer.

He told the Tele: “It’s only the start of February, and I’ve got plenty on my plate at the moment to make sure I keep playing well and nearer May and June time I’ll think about it more.

“Obviously it’s the manager’s decision who he wants to stay or go, but I want to do as much as I can to impress him enough that he will want to keep me.

“Football clubs, especially nowadays, only hand out one-year contracts as that’s all they’re willing to give out.

“Some people think it’s a bit of a merry-go-round, but at the end of it the day it’s your livelihood and it can quickly change, teams can quickly fall down the leagues.”
