MORTON have made their second new signing of the close season by securing former Brechin winger Kalvin Orsi.

The 22-year-old has penned a one year deal at Cappielow and follows fellow new recruit Kyle Jacobs as new boss David Hopkin begins to mould his squad for the forthcoming season.

Orsi began his career with the youth system at Aberdeen.

He also had stints with St Mirren and Queen's Park before moving to Glebe Park, where he has spent the last two seasons.

Orsi featured twice for Brechin when they played Ton at Cappielow in season 2017-18.

He told the club website: “I started out at Aberdeen when I was 12 up until 18 – I moved up there and matured a lot – and then went to St Mirren, where I made my senior debut in a Scottish Cup tie against Spartans.

“With the way things went I thought I actually thought I would get a new contract there, but I was released at the end of the season.

“That’s when I went part-time with Brechin. That was a massive decision for me and something I didn’t know how to feel about at first because I wanted to stay full-time.

“But I felt that it would be more beneficial to go and get as many senior games as I could under my belt, to take one step back to eventually go two forward.

“I’ve spent the last two seasons at Brechin and played 30-odd games in the Championship and that has been massive for my development as a player.

“When David Hopkin got in touch with my agent about me coming to Morton, to get the opportunity to come to such a big club, I almost couldn’t believe it.

“I was desperate to kick on and get back training and playing on a full-time basis. I can’t wait for the challenge.”
