MORTON manager David Hopkin says the players have settled in well so far as the squad enter their second full week of pre-season.

The Ton returned last month and are preparing for the upcoming Betfred Cup fixtures which start in two weeks.

There are eight players who remain from last season’s squad, with plenty of fresh faces ready to tackle this season in Morton colours.

Hopkin says his squad’s professionalism has been first class since he arrived at Cappielow this summer.

The fact they’re all getting on with each other at an early stage is another plus for the Ton boss.

He told the Tele: “Pre-season has been good. The boys have come back in good shape, they’ve all looked after themselves over the summer which is always a good sign.

“The changes at the club that are being made have given the players who were here last season a boost.

“Most players look after themselves nowadays, they come back from their holidays in good shape.

“The first week we’ve been in has been positive. The players have responded really well to the training we’ve been giving them.

“This time of year most managers work with teams that have a settled squad.

“It’s been fine though. There’s maybe seven or eight new faces and it tends to take a week or 10 days to bond.

“But they’ve all got on really well since day one.”
