MORTON exited the Betfred Cup after giving Hibernian a fright in a day of drama at Easter Road.
The Ton fought back from 2-0 down through Bob McHugh and an own goal from Lewis Stevenson.
Paul Heckingbottom’s men thought Florian Kamberi’s goal had sealed their place in the next round but another own goal from Steven Whittaker in the last minute sent the tie to extra-time.
Referee Alan Muir failed to award a foul on Cameron Salkeld in the build-up to Hibs’ fourth.
Manager David Hopkin was sent to the stand for his protests as several decisions went in favour of the home side, before Christian Doidge added their fifth.
