MORTON have secured the loan signing of centre-half Jack Baird on a short-term deal from St Mirren.

Baird made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Buddies, keeping eight clean sheets as they maintained their place in the Premiership via the play-offs, and recently signed a new two-year contract.

The Buddies defender accompanied Motherwell youngster Adam Livingstone, who arrived at Cappielow on a year-long loan deal on a hectic deadline day.

Ton gaffer David Hopkin was delighted to pull off the double signing.

He said: “It’s been a successful day for us, bringing in both Adam and now Jack.

“Having players of their quality will only benefit the squad and I’m sure our supporters will see the best of them.”

Versatile Livingstone plays at left-back and was also deployed as a left-winger in Motherwell’s development squad last season.

The 21-year-old signed a new one-year contract with the Well in April and will be linking up with ex-teammate Jordan Armstrong, who is still on trial with the Ton’s development squad.

Fir Park boss Stephen Robinson has the option to recall Livingstone from his loan in January.

The defender is looking for first-team action and will be competing with the in-form Lewis Strapp.

Livingstone had a spell at East Fife in the second half of last season, making nine appearances for the Methil outfit, as well as featuring as a sub for Motherwell against Celtic in the 1-1 draw at Fir Park last season.
