PETER Grant says Morton must urgently raise their game as they head into a series of tough matches after slipping to eighth in the league table.

The Ton defender has called for his teammates to bounce back after an uninspiring away defeat to Arbroath ahead of games against Inverness, Ayr United and Dundee, which could potentially see them slip into the relegation zone if results don’t improve.

Grant told the Tele: “We need to kick on because we’ve got a real tough run of games coming up, but it’s time to show a bit of mettle.

“There’s still a lot of football to be played but we need to take it a game at a time.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league so we will look to bounce back like we’ve done before.

“In the second half against Arbroath we had a little bit more composure because we were playing with the wind. It’s hard to try and do that when it’s against you.

“We started well but the biggest thing to take away from the game was the final product, because it wasn’t good enough.

“It was disappointing not coming away with the clean sheet because we deserved it.

“We need to regroup ahead of a really tough game at home on Saturday to Inverness.”
