JIM McAlister believes Morton will head to Recreation Park with a point to prove ahead of Saturday’s relegation six-pointer.

With only two points separating the two sides going into Saturday’s clash, the skipper admits all the pressure will be on Morton.

However, McAlister believes that the Ton have progressed over the last few weeks and hopes that it can all come together against the Clackmannanshire side.

He told the Tele: “Things have been progressing slowly but surely over the last few weeks.

“Hopefully we can take some of the positives into Saturday’s game against Alloa.

“The reverse fixture was probably the best performance we’ve had this season.

“Although Andy Graham got sent off, which probably played a factor in the game, we scored four decent goals that day.

“We found it a difficult place to go last year.

“We won the first game early on in the season and from then on, they seemed to have something over us for the rest of the year, so we’re going into the game with a bit of a point to prove.

“Not only with that record, but they’re sitting at the bottom propping everyone up so the onus is on us to put a bit of distance between the two sides.”
