DAVID Hopkin believes Robbie Muirhead can be a handful for any defence in the Championship when the striker hits top form.

The former Hearts kid provided two assists in a man of the match performance against Arbroath and the Ton boss believes that there is nobody quite like Muirhead in the league when he’s on his game.

Hopkin praised the striker after his effort and contribution helped secure three points ahead of a crucial game against Dunfermline on Saturday.

He told the Tele: “I’m delighted for Robbie.

“I brought him in to play alongside John Sutton because I thought that we needed a wee bit of a physical presence and he was excellent.

“He was up front, out wide and at left-back, he was all over the place and he’s got that level of effort and commitment in him.

“I don’t think people realise just how quick he is. When he opens his legs and gets motoring then there won’t be many players who can catch him.

“I’m delighted for everyone, not just Robbie — even the players on the bench who didn’t get on because we knew that we needed to get something out of the game.

“It was important that we got the result against Arbroath because it’s pulled everybody back in. We’ve got a game in hand so we’re in a really strong position.

“I think that there are three teams on 25 points and then there’s us and Partick on 22 points, so we’re still in amongst it.

“We had to show another side to us as well, which I’m most proud of.”
