CHRIS Millar believes Morton produced one of their best performances of the campaign in their Scottish Cup defeat at McDiarmid Park.

Despite the 3-0 reverse against St Johnstone, the veteran midfielder says Ton can take confidence from the tie ahead of their clash with league leaders Dundee United.

Millar believes that the Ton can cause the Arabs problems and put their September nightmare — when they lost 6-0 — behind them once and for all.

He told the Tele: “I thought the boys put in a really good performance, we arguably played our best football of the season.

“We were well organised and we had a big threat in the game and after conceding an absolute wonder strike, we were well on top for most of the game.

“When you’re on top though, you need to take those chances and on other day we could’ve seen ourselves maybe even beating them.

“Goals like that, and big Muzz [Murray Davidson] for the second, they’re the difference in games like that.
“That’s the thing when you play against teams at that level, but there are positives we can take from the match.

“It’s going to be tough up at Tannadice, we know the quality that they have and the squad depth to go with it, but if we take some confidence from our performance against St Johnstone, and not concede early again, then we could surprise a few people and come away with something.”

Meanwhile, Morton’s postponed game against Queen of the South has been rearranged for Saturday February 8.

The Cappielow fixture had been called off on December 14 due to a waterlogged pitch.
