MORTON youngster Lewis Strapp’s job is to thwart opposing attackers — but now he has set his sights on grabbing goals at the other end of the pitch.

The Ton starlet has scored once this season, against Dumbarton in the Betfred Cup group stages at the beginning of the campaign.

The 19-year-old left-back is hungry for more though, after his impressive performances this season attracted the attention of both St Mirren and Dundee.

He told the Tele: “I’ve not scored for a while, so I’d like to think I’m due one.

“It would be unreal if it was to be one that had a lot of significance to it, like a 90th-minute winner.

“But a goal’s a goal so if and when it does come I’ll be happy either way.

“Knowing me though, it’ll probably come when we’re winning 3-0 and it will be a tap-in!

“I’m really enjoying myself this season and I hope I can continue to do so.

“As I’ve said before, this is the best place for me to be and the fact that players like myself and Reece [Lyon] are getting linked with moves away is good for the club.

“It shows all the hard work that’s going on behind the scenes and how much of a success the academy can be.”
