MORTON skipper Jim McAlister has urged his team-mates to hold no fears going head to head against the Championship big guns as they gear up for a tough run of fixtures.

The Ton face both Dundee teams, Ayr United and then Inverness, as well as their rearranged fixture against Queen of the South, over the next month.

And McAlister has warned the sides at the top end of the league that Ton are capable of causing a few surprise results along the way.

He told the Tele: “It’s a tough period that we’re going into now but we have to play everyone.

“We’re coming into it off the back of a good wee run.

“We’ve played the teams in and around us and now it’s time to take on the teams further up the table and we’ve got to approach those games in the same manner.

“We’ve got to feel that we can go toe to toe with teams like Dundee United, Dundee, Ayr and Inverness, especially after the last games that we played against them.

“We’ve got boys coming back into contention so hopefully the squad can be competitive and there will be places coming up for grabs.

“We can’t let the score against St Johnstone affect us.

“That’s where folk will judge you but a lot of the younger players expressed themselves well and did themselves some justice.”
