JOHN Sutton has backed Kalvin Orsi to be a key man for Morton in the second half of the season.

The 22-year-old has impressed his senior team-mate after bursting on to the scene with admirable performances against the two Dundee sides in recent weeks.

He scored against the Arabs and saw a spectacular effort ruled out for offside against the Dark Blues at the weekend.

Sutton says Orsi has all the right attributes to play an important part in Morton’s bid to push up the Championship table.

He told the Tele: “I knew Kalvin when he was coming through at St Mirren and even then I thought that he was a really good player.

“He’s gone on to Brechin and done well in the Championship.

“He’s got some really great attributes to his game and sometimes you just need a break and in his case that came when Cadds [Nicky Cadden] put in a fantastic ball for him to score at Tannadice.

“He’s got a great attitude and is a very skilful and powerful player.

“He’s very strong and hard to get off the ball and has worked really hard to get himself fit for selection for the gaffer.

“He has some similar attributes to myself, he’s brave — which we’ve saw with his goal against Dundee United and his overhead kick which was cruelly ruled out — so he’s created a platform for himself to do well here and hopefully go on and do well in the game.”
