MORTON’S Aidan Nesbitt has told of his relief after finally ending a six month goal drought.
The playmaker’s 77th-minute strike clawed the Ton back on level terms against the Doonhamers for a second time on Saturday.
Nesbitt hopes that the strike will stand him in good stead for the rest of the season and he is determined to put his injury troubles behind him.
He told the Tele: “Scoring on Saturday was a big weight lifted off my shoulders.
“It was definitely over the line but I’d have taken a goal of any kind at that point to get us back into the game.
“I thought we could’ve kicked on again and go and get a winner — but it just wasn’t to be. The conditions were horrible, it was horrible to play in and probably horrible to watch.
“Apart from two scrappy goals, we really should have won the game.
“I could’ve gotten a goal only a few minutes before, but the ‘keeper did really well to get down and tip it round the post.
“That was my first goal in nearly six months so it was really good to get it.
“It’s my first in the league. I’ve had ten starts, which hasn’t been helped by all the niggly injuries, but hopefully it’s a platform for me to kick on now and score a few more and get back to my best, because I know I can offer more.”
