CAMERON Salkeld believes that he can be like a new signing for Morton when he makes his long awaited return from injury.
The winger has missed nearly two months of action since tearing his thigh in training.
He hopes to ease back into training next week after working with a ball again over the last couple of days as his rehab continues.
Salkeld today vowed to come back stronger to finish the season on a high.
He told the Tele: “It’s been a nightmare if I’m being honest.
“Hopefully I’ll get integrated back into training next Monday. I’ll be eased back in, so hopefully I can be like a new signing for the team.
“We’ll need to take things from there and see how it goes.
“I worked on a passing drill yesterday and my thigh felt okay, but like I’ve said before, one day it can feel good and the next it can be really bad, so you don’t want to overwork things like that.
“It’s all about getting the right balance now. I’ve missed six games so I’m just wanting to get back. I’ve done all the rehab and I’m just waiting to get back into things.
“It’s frustrating but you’ve just got to keep plodding along. I need to keep doing as I’m told because at the end of the day, it’s my job and I want to be able to get back to my best.
“Hopefully I get to play in the rearranged fixture against Ayr. It was a blessing in disguise for me that it was cancelled really.”
