REECE Lyon wants to model himself on the playing career of his gaffer David Hopkin and sees himself as a box-to-box midfielder.

The Morton starlet has impressed since bursting on to the scene half way through last season.

He believes he is most effective in a box-to-box role after being used across the park this season by Hopkin.

The teenager is hoping that he can adopt a style similar to his manager – who has already tipped Lyon to have a bright future in the game.

He told the Tele: “Obviously the gaffer has used me in a few roles this year, out on the right, as a number ten and as number eight or six at times and I’m happy to play anywhere because it means that I’m getting more games and experience.

“I think the gaffer likes me behind the striker because I can offer legs and energy but I kind of feel more comfortable sitting a bit deeper, playing as a six or an eight in the engine room, a bit like how he played.

“I feel as if I can make things happen there because I like to play with my body a bit more and get away from opposition players, whilst as a number ten I feel as if it’s a lot more back-to-goal and it’s harder to play compared to sitting a bit deeper.”
