STEVEN GERRARD is determined to give Rangers fans a performance and result to be proud of when his side face Galatasaray on Thursday night.

The Light Blues stand just 90 minutes away from a third consecutive appearance in the Europa League group stages but will have to overcome a star-studded outfit guided by boss Fatih Terim.

There will be no Ibrox crowd to roar the Gers on for the play-off tie against the Turkish giants and boss Gerrard said: "It is a big shame, it is a big game, and I do feel for our supporters.

"But we will try and give them a performance to be proud of. We know that they are still with us.

"It is what it is in terms of the situation and we have just got to get on with it.

"It is a tough game. They are a good side with good players but we will go and try and achieve something.

"We will go and try and climb the mountain and leave everything that we have got out there.

"We promise the supporters we will do everything that we can to try and get the right result."
