IN a week where a penalty shootout win for Scotland took centre stage in all media circles throughout the country, wasn’t it ironic that Morton were beaten twice on penalties thus ending our chances of a successful run in the League Cup.
After the debacle of the humiliating defeat in Kirkcaldy, I for one was not holding out much hope when the team made the short trips to Paisley and Glasgow for those cup games.
Thankfully the team turned in decent displays in both games with a deserved draw against St Mirren and they should have won at Partick Thistle.
Now that the cup is out of the way hopefully David Hopkin knows his strongest starting 11 and I personally would ideally like to see Josh McPake and Aidan Nesbitt starting every game as it gives us a more attack-minded formation.
They will also hopefully bring that little bit of quality to the team that is sometimes lacking.
