GREENOCK Wanderers presented last year's micros and minis players with their awards.

Each award was presented by Wanderers legend Peter Gormley, who returned for the first time since passing up his position of minis convenor.

Peter spent 14 years welcoming and introducing new players to Greenock Wanderers, as well as helping each player develop as both rugby players and as people.

Wanderers organised a special thank you to be given to Peter himself for playing the major role that he did so well for so long.

Peter was presented with a Scotland jersey, signed by the current squad.

Another thank you needs to go to Wanderers coaches Kevin Murray and Graham Finnie for organising the event and also arranging for the presentation of the shirt, donated by Scottish Rugby in recognition of Peter's dedication and commitment to the development of rugby players at Greenock Wanderers.

Peter said: "Fourteen years is a long time for someone like me to spend bringing kids like you from not knowing how to play at all to some of you being wee superstars.

"It's very heartwarming to watch it, to see it happen.

"Turning up not knowing anything and even after their first season, they already know better than the referee.

"Over that 14 years, I loved absolutely every minute of it. There's not been a day when I didn't want to come here.

"It's all been brilliant and I have loved it."
