AIDAN Nesbitt has apologised to his team-mates after missing a gilt-edged opportunity to secure Morton a late point at Palmerston.
The Ton playmaker should have volleyed home with six minutes remaining but instead skied his effort from six yards out.
He has admitted that he took responsibility for coming away empty-handed against Queen of the South and says he was left frustrated after their first-half performance.
He told the Tele: “We are disappointed that we never managed to take anything out of the game.
“I apologised to the boys afterwards. I said I needed to hold my hands up for the chance at the back post.
“I think we started getting balls into the box after around 40 minutes and then the subs who came on did really well and helped us kick on in the second half, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.
“It was two poor goals to concede from set pieces in the first half, one from a corner and then another from a throw-in, it’s not good enough and we know that.
“We’ve been working defensively on that in recent weeks and I think as a whole up until that point we had been good and it was unlike us, which gave them a two-goal headstart on the game."
