IT was interesting reading the Telegraph over the past week as we started to see some Morton players mentioning the positivity around the place and the prospect of going for the promotion play-off positions.
Previously there seemed to be a belief within Cappielow and also amongst our support that we were simply trying to consolidate our position in the league in preparation for the MCT takeover later this year.
A run of successful results lately meant we perhaps should be more optimistic.

But realistically, after Saturday’s defeat in Dumfries, reality is back on the agenda.
A win against Queens would have kept us well in the hunt for the play-offs but the nature of this league now has us looking back over our shoulders at the teams below us.
It has also been noticeable that many - if not all - the teams in our league seem to be bolstering their squads whilst we have reduced ours.
We urgently need a goalscorer added to the squad because the second-half performance on Saturday merited a better result than we got and for me that was simply down to our lack of the natural goalscorer we crave.
