ANTON McElhone says he hopes to find a back-up goalkeeper and bolster his frontline with the transfer window closing tonight.

Scottish clubs have until midnight to complete permanent deals and the Morton boss revealed he may look to give himself more time to bring in new faces by dipping into the loan market which extends into this month.

McElhone wants to strengthen his side for the second half of the season and says much-needed cover for number one 'keeper Aidan McAdams and an extra attacking option are on his wishlist.

He told the Tele: “Hopefully we can try and get one or two things done in the last few days of the window.

“We’ve got the goalkeeping situation which we need to back up and we’re needing more in the final third too. We will continue to look at that.

“We know what’s out there and available to us, we’ve obviously got the loan market which is extended a little bit into February, so we are speaking with people.

“We’re waiting for the weekend to be over to try and get these finalised."

On Saturday's defeat to Arbroath, McElhone said: “We’re massively disappointed with a result. I think this was another match where we didn’t do the right things.

“In the second half we never showed the same energy or hunger to step up and take the game to them.

“We knew that they would come at us, with where they were in the table."
