MORTON hero Craig McGuffie hopes his superb strike against Hearts can trigger a goal rush in the final stretch of the campaign.

McGuffie’s 54th-minute opener was enough to earn his side a point at Tynecastle against the league leaders.

The winger came up with another crucial goal against Dunfermline earlier this season and the ex-Ayr United man believes he can be a potent threat for Anton McElhone in the final 11 league games this season.

He told the Tele: “I seem to have got into the habit of scoring in the big stadiums and in the big games.

"That’s a few times I've done that this season now.

“It was a similar type of goal to the one I scored up at Dunfermline too.

“I felt like I could’ve done better with some goals and assists, but I’m happy to have done that on Saturday.

“A few boys are disappointed that we couldn’t hold on but no matter what way you look at it, you’ve got to take the positives from that.

“I felt like the goal was coming and in the first half we had a few chances despite Hearts having a lot of the possession, but we were happy to sit in and then hit them on the break.

“We’re slightly disappointed but we’re happy with the point.

“The league is so tight so we just need to take things a game at a time in regards to the play-offs."
