ON Saturday after paying £18.50 I switched on Hearts TV with a less than optimistic belief that Morton could get anything from the game.

But some two hours later I was delighted and pleasantly surprised as we gained a point from the champions-elect.

We certainly rode our luck but there were times during the game that showed plenty of promise for the future as we played some decent football.

I have often been critical of the team, especially in the past seven games, but credit to everyone as they dug in to gain the draw that no-one could have possibly foreseen.

Unfortunately we are still in a relegation battle, although, perhaps a more positive way of looking at it is that we only three points away from the promotion play-off slots rather than the fact that we are one point away from the relegation play-off position.

Hopefully the boys will take positives from Saturday’s result to enable us to start to climb the league - but only time will tell.
