KYLE Jacobs hopes that Morton can revive their season on the road - starting with tonight's trip to Inverness.

Ton suffered their third defeat in four home games when they lost 2-0 to Ayr United on Saturday.

The midfielder admits their record at Cappielow has been 'terrible' but he believes producing the goods away from Sinclair Street could be key to getting out of relegation trouble.

Morton's last away day saw them pick up a point against league leaders Hearts at Tynecastle.

Jacobs hopes they can produced a similar spirited performance in the Highlands and put Saturday's dismal display out their system.

He told the Tele: “It’s very tough when you’re on a run like this.

“It’s a good thing we’re able to go and play again tonight to try and flush Saturday out of the system.

“It’ll be good to get away, where the pressure is off.

“We seem to be playing better away from home this season, our home record has been terrible which isn’t like us at all.

“Going away will be good for us and hopefully we can build on our better away performances of recent weeks and try to push on from there.

“I’ve been in dressing rooms before with teams and we’ve been on these types of runs.

"You’re looking at games that you’ve played, and you feel as if you should’ve won and that’s how we’ve felt the last couple of weeks.

“We need to try and make our own luck in runs like this and just keep working hard.

"A win can change everything so we just need to go out and try to get that tonight.

“We need to keep a bit of self-belief in one another. We’re a great group of lads and we’re all dead tight in the dressing room, so we just need to keep working hard for each other.

“We need to pick ourselves back up, we’ve got a big game today and we’ll be more than up for it.”

Jacobs admits that Ton are now in a relegation dog fight and need to get a win on the board sooner rather than later with only a handful of games left this season.

He believes that three points could change everything tonight.

He added: “Everyone knows that it’s a dog fight that we now find ourselves in.

“Loads of boys are out of contract so we are playing for our futures and we need to start showing that because we were miles off it on Saturday and the boys know that.

“We’ve got this game tonight to try and make things right and we just need to work hard and hopefully we can start picking up wins.

“We need to try and get a win first and foremost because we’re in a relegation battle.

“If we don’t start winning games then we’ll just keep slipping down the league but it’s so tight, three points could shoot us right back up.”
