JONNY Glen enjoyed a dream half marathon debut at the Tru Wealth Elite Half Marathon event on Sunday.

The Inverclyde Athletic Club star secured first place after posting a time of 65.40 at the East Fortune Race Circuit in East Lothian.

The former Clydeview Academy pupil braved wild weather conditions to finish ahead of nearest challenger James Donald, of Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, who finished in 66.21.

Jonny said: "It was tough conditions so it was a case of adjusting the tactics and trying to go for the win.

"I wanted to get a gauge of what it's like running a half marathon and I'm really happy with how it went.

"It's not the time I was hoping for but I'm really happy with how I raced it."

The Covid-approved, small-scale event at the enclosed venue was organised by Scottish Athletics.
