AIDAN Nesbitt believes that Morton showed the character needed for Championship survival in their battling draw against Dundee.
The Ton winger netted his fifth goal of the season in the score draw at Dens Park and he believes that he and his team-mates bounced back in the perfect way after last week's mauling at the hands of Inverness.
Nesbitt is adamant that if they produce similar performances in the remaining three games then Ton will have no issues in securing their Championship status for next season.
He told the Tele: “I thought we held our shape really well throughout the full game and we defended from the front really.
“The game plan was working and it’s evident that it was because we were one up with two minutes to play.
“We would’ve taken a point up there before a ball was kicked and we just need to carry that into the Hearts game a week today.
“It shows a lot of character to go from getting beaten in the way that we did on Tuesday to then going up to Dens Park and getting a point.
“The Inverness result was hard to take for everybody involved.
“We couldn’t let that happen again. We’re all professional footballers and it was unacceptable.
“We dusted ourselves down and went into the game at the weekend with different tactics and we followed the game plan well, it was just unfortunate not to get the three points.
“If it was a different stage of the season, we’d have been delighted with a point because it’s a good point regardless.
“It’s just the position that we find ourselves in that we need to be winning games and we’ve only got ourselves to blame for results earlier on in the season.”
Nesbitt was keen to point out that fellow strugglers Arbroath and Ayr United failed to gain ground on Ton as they drew their respective games against Dunfermline and Raith.
He believes that Ton can finish the season on a high by going and winning their remaining fixtures.
He said: “Championship survival is still in our hands, we know what we’re capable of going and doing.
“We can go and win games and do well and hopefully finish the season on a high.
“At least the result at the weekend kept us in the mix and have it all to play for with three games to play.
“It could’ve been better for us if we had held on but we can flip it into a positive and say that nobody gained any points on us.
“We know we can still go and do well in the last few weeks.”
