TOMORROW evening Morton will embark on a mission that will eventually lead to our final destination of either retaining our Championship status or enduring the nightmare scenario of a relegation play-off and possible demotion to League One.

The next three games might just be the most important games we have played in many a year as I personally do not think the club can afford to get relegated as the dwindling support will surely only get even more distant and disillusioned with the club.

Hopefully the last two performances by the team have given a level of confidence back to the players and will enable us to get the results required to keep us safe.

Against Motherwell we were extremely unlucky to go out of the cup as the team put in a tremendous effort and we will certainly require the same level against Hearts tonight if we are to have any chance of gaining a much-needed positive result.

We will then move on to what amounts to two cup finals against relegated Alloa and fellow strugglers Arbroath where we surely must go looking for maximum points or the possible nightmare could become a reality!
