IN a season when it has been extremely difficult to pick positives, I have to start again with a howling negative comment about Morton.
On Saturday we needed a win against an already-relegated Alloa Athletic team but Morton lined up with five defenders and two holding midfielders in the starting 11.
Then late in the game we took off a striker and put on a defender, go figure.
We now move on to Friday where I would say we are favourites to lose against Arbroath and thus endure the agony of the relegation play-offs.
I would like to think that the team will be set up with a more attack-minded formation as we really do need to win rather than hope Inverness Caley Thistle do us a favour against Ayr.
Whilst a draw at Gayfield might be enough, we do need to take the game to Arbroath as a win guarantees we stay in the Championship and we can forget what has been a thoroughly miserable campaign.
