MORTON manager Gus MacPherson has moved quickly to sort out his goalkeeping crisis by securing the emergency loan signing of Motherwell keeper Scott Fox.

The experienced shot-stopper completed a move to Cappielow yesterday after Aidan McAdams was ruled out of the Championship play-off final.

The Tele revealed yesterday that player of the year McAdams had been crocked by a hamstring injury, in a massive blow for the Greenock men.

Now 33-year-old Fox will go straight into MacPherson’s side for tonight's crunch clash first leg clash against Airdrie at the Penny-Cars Stadium, with youngster Chris Wylie set to keep his spot on the bench.

Fox has missed out on any footballing action this season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season for the Steelmen.

But he has since completed his rehabilitation and featured in Graham Alexander’s matchday squad on Sunday in the Fir Park club's final game of the season.

The former Ross County and Partick Thistle goalkeeper will add some much-needed experience and look to fill the gap following the loss of McAdams.

McAdams, 21, has been ever present for Ton this season and impressed with his performances having stepped up from academy football after leaving Rangers last summer.

But his season has been ended prematurely after he sustained a hamstring injury in last Tuesday’s play-off semi-final second leg victory over Montrose at Cappielow.

Ton have had only one goalkeeper in matchday squads for almost all of this season.

They recruited Jamie Butler as back-up in the January transfer window but he suffered a recurrence of a previous ankle injury only days after penning a deal and has instead focused on coaching.

Reserve goalkeeper Wylie has had to step up in recent weeks and featured on the bench against Arbroath and Montrose.

Aside from the huge blow of losing McAdams, Ton have no other fresh injury concerns for this evening's game, which will be screened live on BBC Alba.
