MORTON have signed former Livingston defender Alan Lithgow.

The 33-year-old centre-half put pen to paper on a deal at Cappielow this afternoon and becomes manager Gus MacPherson’s first permanent new recruit at the club.

The Ton boss said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Alan here to Cappielow, his experience and quality will only benefit the club."

Lithgow won back to back promotions at the heart of Livingston’s defence under former Morton gaffer David Hopkin.

He made over 100 appearances as they completed their rise from League One to the Premiership.

He has penned a two-year contract on Sinclair Street.

The defender was released from Almondvale at the end of last season after recovering from a hip injury that saw him ruled out for the campaign.
