GUS MacPherson’s summer recruitment plans have suffered a setback after Stephen McGinn decided against staying with Morton.
The Tele understands the former Sheffield United, Watford and St Mirren midfielder will be joining Championship rivals Kilmarnock after turning down an offer to come to Cappielow on a permanent basis following his recent spell on loan from Hibs.
It is thought that the 32-year-old was close to agreeing a deal with Ton only to have a change of heart and opt to sign for Tommy Wright at Killie.
McGinn featured 13 times for MacPherson after arriving in March, playing a key role in the successful play-off campaign, and the manager had made no secret of his desire to reach a permanent deal with his former St Mirren key man.
