MORTON boss Gus MacPherson has strengthened his backline ahead of the beginning of pre-season as Michael Ledger has penned a new one-year deal.

The Sunderland youth academy graduate impressed last season with his consistent performances at right-back, featuring 20 times in all competitions.

The 24-year-old will now stay in Inverclyde for a second successive season as Gus MacPherson’s squad grows to 13 ahead of pre-season starting tomorrow.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Aidan McAdams has left the club.

Ton's player of the year has advised that he will not be re-signing.

He has been linked with a move to Ayr United.
