MORTON boss Gus MacPherson has added some much needed muscle to his frontline after securing the signing of powerhouse forward Gozie Ugwu.

The 28-year-old checked into Cappielow this morning on a one-year-deal after leaving Raith at the end of last season.

He found the back of the net four times as Rovers made it to the Premiership play-off semi final.

The former Chesterfield and Wycombe striker is no stranger to Scottish football, having already turned out for Dunfermline Athletic in 2014, netting seven times in League One for the Pars before his spell in Kirkcaldy last season.

The Tele understands that MacPherson saw off competition from David Hopkin’s Ayr United for his signature.

The 28-year-old joins former Livingston captain Alan Lithgow and Mark Russell at Sinclair Street as Ton build a new squad.

They will face Dumbarton in an away friendly tomorrow night as pre-season preparations continue.
