GOZIE Ugwu says he's putting team success before personal glory after bagging his first Morton goal against Hamilton Accies.

The striker was delighted to find the net for the first time in a Ton jersey as Gus MacPherson's men sealed their first Championship win of the campaign.

Ugwu insists team spirit is more important than his goals record and says getting three points is what matters most to him.

He told the Tele: “I’m happy about getting my first goal at the club but the performance speaks for itself.

“Everyone who came on or played the full 90 put in an absolute shift out on the pitch and we left nothing out there.

“That just shows our togetherness because it was a great team performance and a well-earned three points.

“I was pleased with the finish and I’ve always thought that it was going to come at some point. I wasn’t too worried about it if I’m being honest.

“I was just more focused on helping the team and if I was doing that well then the goals would follow, but even if they didn’t we’d still be getting the three points on a Saturday which is all that matters.

"I’m just delighted that we were able to get a huge three points so early on in the season and match it with a strong performance against a really strong side.”
