MORTON Youth Academy kicked off their season in style by winning three Edinburgh Cups at a prestigious football festival.

Ton entered five teams into the International Youth Football Festival which featured top academy teams from around the UK and beyond.

Ton’s future looks bright after the under-13s, 14s and 15s sealed cup glory with resounding victories over West Park United, Dundee Academy and Edinburgh South respectively.

It was also a memorable weekend for the under-11s who secured fourth place after a notable victory over Rangers before narrowly losing out to Celtic in the semi-finals on penalties.

The under-12s secured a third-place finish with a resounding 5-0 win against Knightswood in the play-off after losing out to Dundee in the semi-finals.

Ton’s under-16s secured a runners-up spot after losing out to a County Down select in the final to round off a successful weekend for Ton director of youth Derek Anderson and his teams.

He said: “A huge thanks to all the players, coaches and parents for their efforts over the weekend.

“The Edinburgh Cup will give us a good foundation going forward for the season restart.”
