MORTON hero Gozie Ugwu hopes that his late goal has repaid the trust shown in him by gaffer Gus MacPherson.

The 28-year-old returned from injury to make his first appearance since Ton's draw against Arbroath on October 2 when he came off the bench in the second half against Hamilton Accies.

The former Raith Rovers hitman came up with the goods to rescue a point for his side deep into injury time.

Ugwu believes Morton can take confidence from their late rally as he looks to help turn their campaign around.

He told the Tele: “To be honest, the gaffer has been great, as have the whole team really.

“Whenever I can get onto the pitch to repay everyone then I will and I'll put in my best to do just that.

“With the backing they have given me, I want to repay them for it.

“When we’re on the pitch we just need to give it our all and hopefully we can get a positive performance out of it.

“It was great to get a goal. I think we deserved it in the end and the way that we finished is something that we need to take into the next game.”
