JAAKKO Oksanen believes Gozie Ugwu’s injury-time leveller against Hamilton Accies can prove to be a turning point in Morton's campaign.

The Greenock men looked down and out trailing 1-0 in the 97th minute before the Finn delivered a perfect cross for Ugwu to seal a dramatic point against Stuart Taylor’s side.

Now the Brentford loanee hopes that Ton can reach their full potential and turn draws into victories as they look to move away from the relegation zone.

He told Telegraph Sport: “Hopefully we can start to pick up in our results now off the back of that goal - because it felt like a winner!

“We’ve had quite a few draws recently, so we just need to try and turn them into three points.

“It was good to be back in the middle of the park towards the end of the game and it was pleasing to get an assist to help the team.

“It was a good game to play in. Hamilton try to play some nice football so you have to be at your best against them and I definitely feel that playing in games like that can only help me going forward."

Oksanen opened up on his loan spell in Greenock and he believes that Cappielow is the perfect environment for him to take his game to the next level.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed my time in Greenock so far. We’ve got a really good group of lads here and I feel like we’ve got more potential than what we’ve shown so far, so hopefully we can start picking up some more points sooner rather than later.

"The signs are there that we’re clicking.

“I’ve liked the loan as a whole really. It’s a physical league played at a high tempo, so I feel like it suits my game.

“It’s been the right environment for me to be in.”

Looking ahead to Ton's crucial clash against basement side Dunfermline, Oksanen said: “It’s a massive game for us this weekend at East End Park.

"We need to build on the draw and try to get three points and really kick on now."

The Finland under-21 cap says he was left pulling his hair out over the gamesmanship used by Accies at the weekend.

The 21-year-old challenged his team-mates to get on the scoresheet earlier in games as they look to build on Saturday's result.

He added: “As an opposition player, the time-wasting can be really frustrating.

“I’ve never known anything like it, guys taking that many yards and as much time.

"It could’ve been one of those days again and it was looking like that, but thankfully we got the goal in the end.

“I feel like we’re creating three or four big chances in games, but it’s just been a case of not taking them.

“We got that one at the end on Saturday but we just need to try and score early on in games."
